🧑🎨 Forever Young Art Corner: 70+ Years of Ongoing Support 👩🎨
In July, with the azure sky and a sun blazing like a fireball, summer’s charm was in full swing. We’re grateful to CanLove volunteers for braving the scorching sun to participate in the event! The gathering included not only volunteers who flew in from Hong Kong but also a father who took time off work to bring his son, who was on summer break, to join. Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly touching.
Unknowingly, today marks the fourth and final elder companionship service event of the year for CanLove. Reflecting on the three previous events at Jiu-Ru, each focused on different aspects of drawing—from sand art and scratch art to today’s fluid art. Our goal was to show the elders that painting is not limited to just paper and pens. We hoped to inspire their creativity, help them revisit their life experiences and stories, and find joy in the small things in life. It was about enjoying the process and finding pleasure in the activity!
A special thanks to Jessica for serving as our DIY instructor and guiding the elders in creating fluid art. The elders at Jiu-Ru were excited about this new experience, eagerly gathering to select their favorite colors. Some expressed concerns, saying things like, “What if I can’t use the paint? I’ve never learned how to paint, I can’t do it!” In these moments, the patience and support of the volunteers were crucial.
With the careful assistance and encouragement from the volunteers, the elders gradually overcame their concerns and ultimately collaborated to create unique pieces of art. It was heartwarming to see their initial hesitation transform into satisfaction and pride by the end.
Thus, CanLove concluded its final service event of the year at Jiu-Ru on this touching summer day, with a heavy heart but hopeful for the future. We look forward to our next gathering and hope to continue creating lasting, meaningful memories. 🌊🌊✨✨
